The Cape of Good Hope in South Africa has a tremendous shoreline, it is both rocky and violent along with a bit of sand in places. Actually, that sounds a lot like the shoreline of Maine!

I posted previously on my trip to the Cape of Good Hope. I had already experienced an amazing penguin encounter where I walked alone with those magnificent birds. But now it was time for another bird encounter.

On my trip to the southern tip of South Africa I came across these fellas on the beach. I had to take a double take as I was not expecting this.

Ostriches on the beach? Now I had already seen these in Kruger Park on the other end of the country. These birds do run wild here. It’s just I didn’t expect to see them on this end of the country and roaming freely on the beach among so many people.

These are truly impressive birds. Although I have seen them in zoos before, it is quite different watching them in their natural habitat.

Although the area is probably better known for viewing humpback and Blue whales, there are also many surprises here.
So cool, I take it they are not afraid of people.
I have always enjoyed seeing ostriches they are a unique animal. The way they move there long necks around to watching them run. It's really cool you got to see them up so close
