I really love flying Qatar airways. Based in Doha, Qatar my flight took me through their capital city. I'll share with you my journey.
Business class on flight QR0756 was in a Boeing 777-300ER. The business class seating was in 1-2-1 format meaning there is a single window/aisle seat on each side the plane and 2 seats in the middle of the plane, each with aisle access. My seat was a single seat on the side.
Short video of business class QSuite pod:
Their business class product is fantastic. There is a ton of room and storage right at the seat. I never even used the overhead storage compartment dedicated to my seat.
The TV screen is large for the seat area. An abundance of at least 100 movies available.
I started on the wrong foot by sitting in the wrong seat! I was suppose to be in seat 3A but sat in 2B instead. It clearly told me that on the TV screen if I paid attention.
The real seat 2B guy came, but did not confront me. Instead he got the flight attendant to boot me from his seat. I was already settled into my seat and seat 3A was identical to mine (aisle and window seat on same side of plane), but he wanted his seat. No complaints, I moved.
What was embarrassing was the flight attendant took the time to disinfect and clean the area before the guy sat down. I think it was at the request of the guy who was to sit there. Really, did I look like that much of a hygiene issue?
Oh well, on to the menu.
I chose the Lobster Bisque soup, the Beef Carpaccio appetizer, the Tiger Prawns and Scallops, and the cheese plate. No desert.
At take off I was greeted with this view at about 5,000 feet:
They later informed me they were out of Prawns so I ended up with the short ribs. I was not disappointed.
I forgot to take pictures of the meal until the cheese plate came out:
Relaxing after the meal in the fully lie flat business class seat:
Contrary to most flights I've taken internationally, I actually slept about 5 hours of this 13 hour flight. Very unusual for me. I think the ability to close the door to your pod, giving you complete privacy, allowed me the convenience of sleep.
Approaching Doha now. Much of the land off the shore of Doha is manufactured.
This constructed landmass is called Pearl Island. The artificial island was built for residential ownership by foreign nationals. Good idea to increase your waterfront prime property for sale!
Capital city of Doha. 80% of Qatar's population lives in and around this urban area.
And now the 13 hour voyage concludes with the landing:
Great airline and great flight!
OMG-First class and then some. I have never seen this type of seating or such an elaborate menu. I totally understand why you love flying that airline. Those pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
That is the way to fly almost like being in a recliner at your house. Your food menu was incredible not just peanuts. What a beuitiful view of the city. It's amazing that this was all man made
