Erawan National Park

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

As part of my western Thailand self driving exploration I stopped at this very popular National Park. It's likely the most popular park in Thailand and receives many tourists, local and foreign. The entrance fee is around $9 USD for foreigners and $3 USD for locals.

The main attraction is the waterfalls and beautiful emerald waters for swimming. There are certainly larger and more impressive waterfalls than this in Thailand but the appeal of the water color makes for an attractive background for picnicking and cooling off in the mist.

There are 7 tiers to the falls, but food and picnicking stops at tier 2. There is a checkpoint there to ensure compliance. I didn't bring food so no problem.

It is a rain forest so the path takes you through some jungle area.

Larger tier.

Lots of fish.

Top tiers.

This picture shows why this place is so popular.

It was a nice half day excursion. Much of the time spent was the lengthy walk in the rainforest.
